“Marriage 101” on KKYX Radio 680am San Antonio, Texas
Hosts: Starr & Bob Calo–oy
Guest: Pastor Timmy and Trecia Westley
Broadcast Date: July 18, 2009
Starr and Bob Calo-oy interview Pastor Timmy and Trecia Westley. They have been in marriage ministry for 3 years. You can discuss your disagreements without hurting each other. You must be careful of your ego when dealing with your mate. Be sure to establish communication guidelines to avoid conflict.
The Bible says, “In your anger, do not sin”. Sometimes we just need to set a time aside to not respond in anger. Some people are coming into a marriage thinking what it can do for them rather than what they can do for it. They also have expectations of what things will be like only to find out that it is not like that. You need to support your spouse and praise them and serve them.
Tips: Keep God first. Pray together. Respect and honor one another. Find things that your spouse likes and do it for them. Be slow to speak and quick to hear. Set aside time to communicate. It is better to understand than to be understood.
Caller, Fernando says his wife of 25 years does the things that she doesn’t have to do, like be with me while I’m working or bring me tea to make it better. I do the same for her. I make sure broken things around the house work, I open the door, I sweep or mop, etc. It makes you feel like you are important and loved and cared for. He asks what’s better than young love…old love!
